Bournville Village Festival updates

Huxtable promoted to cabinet

Conservative Bournville Councillor Tim Huxtable has been appointed as cabinet member for transport and regeneration at Birmingham City Council. This follows a re-shuffle of cabinet posts following the recent local elections.

Councillors welcome Cadbury expansion at Bournville

Bournville Councillors Tim Huxtable and Nigel Dawkins have been speaking to bournvillevillage.com about the planned closure of Kraft’s Cheltenham offices and the prospect of staff being moved to its Bournville offices along with the plans to make Bournville a centre for Kraft’s research and development operations in the UK.

Selly Oak election video

Birmingham City Council have made available a video of the general election declaration for the Selly Oak constituency. Steve McCabe won the seat with a majority of 3,482. His acceptance speech is included in full.

Bournville Local Election results – Conservative hold

Rob Sealey is the new Conservative councillor for Bournville after holding the seat for the party at Thursday’s local election. He acheived a majority of just 704 after a very strong showing from Labour candidate Nathan Matthew.

Selly Oak General Election result – Labour hold

Labour were declared the winners in the Selly Oak constituency early this morning as the General Election provided a night of upsets and a potential hung parliament. Steve McCabe will now become the constituency’s MP.

Bournville Infant head writes school history

Pam Dexter, head of Bournville Infant School has given an exclusive interview to bournvillevillage.com to tell us about her upcoming book on the history of the school. Mrs Dexter, who retires this year, describes the school as a “special building and a special place” which has always had the children’s interests at heart.
