Cadbury Worker Compensated for Asbethos Exposure
A former publications officer at Cadbury’s Bournville factory has received £100,000 compensation after developing the fatal asbestos-related cancer mesothelioma.

Bournville Junior School considers Academy future
Bournville Junior School is considering its future status having registered an interest in becoming an Academy School with the Department for Education. It’s one of 21 Birmingham schools that have enquired and two others in our area have also asked the government for further details.
Special Carillon Performance on Saturday
A special one-off performance by the American composer and performer Charlemagne Palestine will take place at Bournville Carillon this Saturday from midday. The performance has been organised by the Ikon Gallery and will feature a new composition that was commissioned in conjunction with Newcastle’s AV Festival.

Our neighbours in Cotteridge had a visit from one of the world’s greatest tennis players at the weekend when Maria Sharapova dropped in to show support for the park’s new tennis coaching sessions and to promote the Aegon Classic tournament at the Priory Club in Edgbaston next week.
Royal Visit for Bournville
Bournville will have a royal visitor next week when The Duke of Gloucester visits Bournville Infant School, which is celebrating its centenary this year, and Bournville Village Trust’s redevelopment of Lower Shenley.
