A summer training camp for children interested in triathlon starts on Monday at Linden Road Instruction Pool in Bournville. The course is aimed at 8-16 year olds and includes a mini-triathlon race at the end of the course.
Bournville has a new European Athletics champion in the guise of Bournville Harrier runner Rob Andrew (pictured). Rob is now the fastest man in his age group at 1500m after competing at the European Masters’ Championships in Hungary this week.
The winning candidate for Selly Oak constituency in May’s General Election spent twice as much as his nearest rival to secure victory. Details of election expenses also reveal that Labour’s Steve McCabe spent £13813 on unsolicited leaflets and £165 on balloons.

A nursery school founded by the Cadbury family has been reflecting on its rich 100-plus year history in an article in the current edition of Carl Chinn’s Brummagem Magazine. The article was sparked by staff at Selly Oak Nursery School finding a treasure-trove of archive material in the nursery loft.
Bournville-Vocal-Ease Ladies Choir will be helping to celebrate the start of summer later today with a performance at Wychall Primary School fete in Northfield from 4pm. Visitors can look forward to performances from four local choirs, a barbeque, face painting, a bouncy castle, and a whole host of traditional stalls.
