The Unite union, which represents many workers at the Cadbury factory in Bournville, has set up a new social media network as part of its campaign against the takeover of the firm. ‘Friends of Cadbury‘ describes itself as being set up by a self-confessed “group of geeks” with the aim of keeping “Cadbury’s fans informed about developments and see what we could do together to keep Cadbury… Cadbury”
The network is linked to the wider campaign by Unite which is working closely with Cadburys themselves to “keep the company independent, and stop the threat of Kraft cuts.” Although the group has only 37 members at the time of writing it is aiming to get itself heard by using free social networking tools such as Polldaddy, Ning and Twitter. The twitter accounts have over 2000 follower between them.
The website has collected together many videos about the takeover as well as current Cadbury adverts and is also seeking views on ‘How strongly do you feel that Cadbury should remain independent?’ After over 70 votes the results indicate that 82% of voters feel very strongly that it shouldn’t be sold under any conditions.

We should have a demo outside Sainsburys in Selly Oak asking people not to buy Kraft products, maybe the telly would come along and we coult get some national coverage like the Tesco’s thing the other year.
Support Cadburys – Boycott Kraft!
Hi there,
Excellent post. Can I just point out that Friends of Cadbury was not set up by Unite and has no links to the union, other than our shared ambition to keep Cadbury out of the hands of Kraft.
We look for ways to work with all other parties who are fighting to support Cadbury workers and to protect one of Britain’s last iconic companies.
We will be shortly be launching a dedicated YouTube channel to assist in the defence against Kraft. Anyone with content, please get in touch!
here’s a little something to cheer you all up
