The subject of Kraft’s takeover of Cadbury is set to become centre stage once again when the Business Innovation and Skills Parliamentary Committee holds an evidence session on Tuesday 16 March at which senior Kraft personnel are expected to appear.
The committee had previously taken evidence before the takeover when amongst others it heard from Unite the Union’s Jenny Formby, National Officer Food and Drink Sector, who told MPs how important the Bournville factory is to the surrounding area: “The West Midlands has a whole list of companies that have failed or have shed jobs.”
This time the committee will also hear from senior representatives from Kraft and Cadbury. It’s expected that the planned closure of the Somerdale factory in Keynsham near Bristol and Bath, is likely to be a key focus of discussion.
Parliamentary committees accept written evidence from interested parties or individuals. These should be sent, as an MS Word document, by e-mail to biscom@parliament.uk with a single hard copy sent to the Clerk of the Committee.
Business, Innovation and Skills Committee membership is as follows:
Chairman: Peter Luff (Con) (Mid Worcestershire)
