78 Year Age Gap is Bridged by Christmas Carols and Birthday Wishes

Alice and Deana Year 8 StudentA school choir has continued their annual tradition of visiting elderly residents’ homes in Bournville and Northfield to sing carols and spread festive cheer.

Students from Bournville School and Sixth Form Centre started off their day by taking part in the 90th birthday celebration of Alice Neil, a resident at Rowheath House in Bournville. Alice (pictured) was presented with a birthday cake from pupil Deanna Pickering, 78 years her junior.

Deanna said that she was absolutely delighted when she was selected to present the cake and had really enjoyed meeting Alice and having the opportunity to talk to her.

The bond between young and old was clear to see as residents and students joined together to sing carols and be a part of Alice’s special day.
