Birmingham’s annual half marathon is due to return to Bournville’s streets on Sunday 20th October. The race is due to attract almost 20,000 runners this year.
The race has a staggered start, leaving Birmingham City Centre from 10:10am onwards. The route through Bournville takes runners off the Pershore Road and along Bournville Lane before turning left into Linden Road and then down Mary Vale road.
This is about mile five to six on the course so the leading runners will be expected any time from 10:35 onwards. Local running club Bournville Harriers is expected to have up to 50 of its runners representing the club.
The race will be broadcast live in Channel 5 Television. The wheelchair race starts earlier at 9:45am with competitors expected around Bournville from just after 10:00am.
Local café Leverton & Halls on Mary Vale road will stay open all day for teas, coffee, snacks and lunches.
Residents on the route are reminded to remove their cars from the street or risk having them towed away overnight.
