The Making of Stirchley Park

You may not be familiar with Stirchley Park. But the small patch of grass behind the co-op on one side and Bond street on the other, is to be the subject of a series of discussions about its future.

Three workshops, organised by Place Prospectors as part of their Stirchley Prospects project, will be taking place in Stirchley Park over next month for local people interested in discussing the park’s future.

The space is currently referred to as Stirchley Recreation Ground by the Council and although there are three entrances to it they are not immediately apparent to the public (the best entrances to use are off Hazelwell st. or on the corner of Bond st and Ribblesdale road).

The workshops aim to discuss how the park can be made friendlier, more welcoming and more well known. It is the intention to also collect memories of the park from residents.

The workshops will take place on Sundays 15 January, 29 January, 12 February from 11am-1pm.

The organisers advise that you bring something to sit on and meet at the old pavillion. Shelter will be provided and everybody is welcome.
